Production stills, promotional portraits, and behind-the-scenes photography from our archive.
Photography at 171 Entertainment
Photography has always been a natural extension of our video production work. On nearly every shoot, we capture high-quality stills alongside the moving image — production stills for press kits, promotional portraits for artist marketing, and behind-the-scenes shots that document the filmmaking process itself. Over the years, these images have been used in album artwork, press releases, festival programmes, and social media campaigns.
Director Ross Wood's background in cinematography informs his approach to still photography. The same attention to lighting, composition, and subject positioning that makes our music videos effective carries directly into our photographic work. Many of the artists we've worked with — including Adam Brand, Melinda Schneider, and Sam McClymont — have used our production stills as part of their ongoing promotional materials.

Why Stills Matter
In a world focused on video, it's easy to overlook the importance of a strong photograph. But a single well-composed image can do things that video cannot — it freezes a moment, it works on a billboard or a social media thumbnail, and it gives journalists something immediate to publish alongside a review or interview. For artists with limited marketing budgets, a set of strong promotional photos from a video shoot represents excellent value, effectively turning one production day into content for two different media.
